Created in 1988, Tecmic is a national company responsible for the development of AVL and fleet management systems…
With the aim of disseminating Portuguese technology and promoting knowledge and desire for its use, the company was present at Portugal Tecnológico, where it was able to communicate “the technological developments that allow people to know the arrival time of the next bus, how to avoid recycling points from overflowing and how to ensure deliveries arrive at the right place, among others”, says João dos Reis Barata, Tecmic’s administrator.
The integration of several solutions developed by the company was presented at the technological event where “our major innovation was the integration of preexisting solutions, through product synergies with the end result being much more powerful than the solutions commercialized separately” refers the administrator.
As a result of this emerges the Ecogest solution, totally designed by Tecmic’s team, which is composed of a unit installed within each recycling bin that reads the content level using ultrasound, reporting the data collected to the control center software by means of telemetry. “Based on the needs of waste collection, Ecogest creates circuits to optimize the waste collection process” explains João dos Reis Barata…
Regarding the advantages of this system, Tecmic’s administrator stresses that “the studies and analyses carried out show Ecogest’s performance enables a reduction in operating costs of about 30%. Other benefits reported are improvement in the image in the eyes of the public, the optimization of the circuits made and the achievement of a more ecological waste collection system”.
Tecmic has also presented a new project that seeks to present data regarding the driving behavior of a certain driver and the fuel consumption achieved by him. “The goal is to implement training mechanisms for drivers… aiming for the reduction of costs and increasing the security for both drivers and goods”, said the administrator.
